It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Berkeley Sabourin on Friday August 24th. Berk was born April 2, 1934 in Sicamous, B.C., the youngest of four. In the early 1950's he was introduced in Vancouver to Kathleen Gloria Grant (Kay), the love of his life whom he married in 1955. After living in numerous communities throughout B.C. pursuing a career within the trucking industry, they settled in Nanaimo where Berk started his own business. Berk and Kay spent many happy years in their retirement golfing and travelling south to Palm Springs and Nevada, but nothing was more enjoyable than watching their grandchildren swimming in the pool.

Berk was predeceased by his wife Kay and daughter Barbara, his brother Robert and sister Mary, brothers-in-law George McGuire, Don Somerville, and Gord Grant, sisters-in-law Tanny Somerville, Doddie Arnold, Myrtle Newberry, Gladys Fricker, Olive Webster, Dorothy Grant, and Jo Sabourin. Berk is survived by his daughter Ann (Jerry) Frajman, sons John and Brian (Kathy), son-in-law (Stan Holmes), eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren, along with his brother John (Jeanette), cousins Bernice Boe and Grant (Isabelle) Somerville, cousin-in-law Norm Combs and many nieces and nephews.

The family wish to extend a special thank you to his friend Anna North and his private health care providers, Jocelyn and her team Trisha, Marion, Glady and Jo-Ann for their care and kindness.

A service will be held 1:00 pm on Sunday October 21st at the Nanaimo Golf Club, 2800 Highland Boulevard.

If you wish, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Red Cross Nanaimo division would be appreciated.
