It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Beppe Ina (Ynskje) de Haan, born as Ynskje van der Veen in the Netherlands on January 28th, 1929. Mom came to Canada with her husband Jeep, in the 1950's, to start a new life, in a new world, and found happiness. She leaves behind her sons Allan and Robert, daughter Michelle Sommer and her husband Greg, along with three grandchildren; Alexandria, Hannah and Josh.

Several Days before Beppe's passing, I was wiping Mom's face with a cloth and she twitched out of her sleep.

I asked Beppe was there anybody in there?

She said yes.

I asked her if she was comfortable.

She said yes.

I then asked if she was in dream world.

She said yes.

I then asked her if dream world was a nice place.

She said yes.

She looked so serene.

She then drifted off back into her world of dreams again and rested peacefully for the rest of the day.

Like a breeze through a tree, it catches a leaf in the autumn sky and separates it from its' home in the branches. The tree of life loses another from its fold. The leaf floats down gently on the pillow of a breeze and lands softly on the autumn floor like a feather. Now to rest peacefully only to be reborn into where the leaf had come from....heaven.

Our mother lived to see her 90th birthday and celebrated her life with her family and friends in the hospital. The following day she passed softly and gently into the night with her children present.

The families would like to greatly acknowledge all the support that came from our family friends and our family in the Netherlands. Special acknowledgement goes out to the de Haan and van der Veen families from her home country. During these times they showed their support and love to our small families in Canada, as our mother was deeply loved by them all.

Special thanks also goes out to the staff at the hospital for their tender, compassionate, and caring natures. They did a wonderful job of being sensitive souls through that difficult time.

Also, special thank you goes out to Dr. Jan Coetzee for his kind and compassionate ways and for guiding our family through the emotional times with his thoughtfulness and caring advice.

On a final note, a special Thank You goes to the staff at Discovery Harbour Care Centre where she made many new friends and was loved by the people and the staff. This was her final home. Thank you to the staff and residents for making Mom feel welcomed, loved and cared for (Her thoughts will linger on from here and into eternity).

To everyone, you were all sensational in the parts you played in making our mom's life a celebration. You all touched her heart and made her feel loved. Our small family acknowledges this once again and thanks you all for being the caring, loving people that you all are.

Sincerest Regards,

the de Haan and Sommer families.

There will be a Memorial Service hosted by Discovery Harbour Care Centre at 850-14th Avenue, Campbell River, on February 28, 2019 at 2 pm.
