October 7, 1941 - September 13, 2021
Bea was born in Powell River BC. She grew up in Langley on a farm. It was there her love of horses started. She actually picked strawberries as a young girl to purchase her first horse.
Her love of horses soon turned into a love of a boy and in the early 1960s Bea moved to Prince George with her young family. In the late 1960s the family moved to Campbell River when better opportunities came along. In the early 1980s Bea moved back to the lower mainland where she worked in long term care homes until she moved to the Comox Valley to be closer to her family in 2000.
Unfortunately, in 2002 Bea had both her legs amputated due to complications from smoking. That did not slow her down. She was fiercely independent and lived on her own in Kiwanis Village in Courtenay until the end.
Many people knew Bea from when she would roam around town in her wheelchair, always looking stylish and she would light up a room with a smile that reached to her eyes. She loved people and would chat with anyone who would listen.
Being in a wheel chair did not slow her down from volunteering at the hospital, food bank, soup kitchen and whatever church she belonged to. She brightened many a person's day with her kind words and always tried to bring hope.
She loved Jesus and didn't hesitate to let people know about the many miracles she saw in her life as well as others' lives.
Bea is survived by her three children, Bill (Laurie), Vera and Calvin (Wendy), 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all her friends who lent a helping hand when she needed; her doctor, Dr. Nap, who cared for her through her cancer diagnosis and other medical needs; the doctors and nurses at the North Island Hospital Comox Valley who treated her with respect and dignity while she was in the hospital and all those in the community who brightened her days.
A service will be held at the Central Evangelical Free Church 765 McPhee, Courtenay on Oct 8 at 2pm.
