July 16, 1956 - June 26, 2020
Everyone who knew Barry knows he wouldn't really care what this says, but we'll try our best. Barry loved to tell off colour jokes. We would tell you some of his favorites, but they're not fit for print. Barry also loved to tell stories, and he would never let the little matter of what actually happened get in the way of entertaining you.
He was at the same time a natural born troublemaker and the most generous man you'd ever met. Barry had a soft spot for underdogs. Literal underdogs (he adopted the largest most unruly dogs you can imagine), but also for people down on their luck. He didn't pity people. He saw the goodness and worthiness in them and would do whatever he could to help them.
Barry taught his four children the important things in life: how to drive stick, how to throw a baseball, how to love others unconditionally, and that you'll never have any good stories to tell if you always follow the rules.
Barry will be deeply missed by his children Nathan (Julie), Janessa (Clint), Ely, and Courtenay, his sister Jill, his partner Kelly and her children Bill, Shane (Ovik), and Nikki, his many grandchildren, and his many friends.
Barry was laid to rest wearing his Iron Worker's Local 97 shirt and his cowboy boots; just as he would have wanted. He will be met by his mother Anne, his father Doug and his Auntie Beth. He is more than likely in deep trouble right now for being a hall of fame worthy hell raiser for over 60 years, but don't worry because no one could ever stay mad at Barry for long.
We will be holding a ceremony to remember Barry at his residence 2251 Fosgate Road on July 25, 1 pm.
Rest easy Barry we love you.
