July 28, 1952 - March 21, 2021
Barb passed away quietly at home supported by the love of friends after a brave battle with cancer.
Predeceased by her mother Vera and father Jack, she leaves behind her brother Bob (Cathy).
Born in Ottawa, Barb grew up there, camping and boating with family and close friends during idyllic summers. The family moved to British Columbia in the late 1960s and made the West Coast their home.
Barb's passion for marine biology grew while getting her degree at Simon Fraser University. Her analytical mind and strong work ethic enabled her to make important contributions to science. Barb absolutely adored living in Bamfield during the 1970s-80s where she made many lifelong friends. She loved her friends, her live music events, and her many cat companions, and was an excellent hostess.
Another passion was travel. Barb visited many parts of the world, Italy being a recent favourite, and she had a knack for often finding great places to stay. May Barb's spirit continue to travel and touch us all along the way. She will be missed.
A celebration of life will be held when COVID restrictions are lifted.
