It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Diane Hemphill at the age of 77.
Diane as she was known, was born and raised in Victoria, BC where she continued to live into her younger adult years and eventually moved to Nanaimo BC where she met her husband Wayne and continued to raise her family there.
Her passions were being with her family, bowling, her hummingbird sanctuary, the beloved river behind her house, travelling, hot rods and Western Speedway, and having a great time.
She passed away at Wexford Creek Seniors Community on May 12, 2021. She fought a long brave battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was predeceased by her father David Thyne, mother Geraldine Thyne, and her brother Barry Thyne.
Survived by her husband Wayne Hemphill of 45 years, daughters Julie Graugaard ( Jake ), Susan Goddard, son Douglas Hemphill ( Tammy), grandchildren Ashley Quinn, Chloe and Jaden Hemphill, great grandchildren Brooklyn and Emily Quinn, sisters Cheryle Gibb, Jodie Maltby, uncle Allan Haskins ( Marlene ), sister-in-laws Kathy Foster, Berle Hemphill ( Kirby ), brother-in-law John Hemphill, and many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Inurnment will take place at a later date due to Covid restrictions.
