1951-2021 ~ Barbara Christine Watson age 69, passed away peacefully on March 1st, 2021 after a two-and-a-half-year battle with stage 4 endometrial cancer.
Barb will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, Ted, and her four children Teresa (John), Shannon (Thor), Michelle (Gerry), Darren (Kelly), and her three grandchildren Jasmine, Vincent, and Mikaela.
Barb will also be fondly remembered by her two brothers, Bruce (Del), Paul (Kathy), her sister-in-law, Julie, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved deeply. She is predeceased by her parents, Kit and Chris, and her brother, Phil.
Barb was born in 1951 in Chatham, New Brunswick to Lorne (Kit) and Christina Carson. Her childhood was spent in Don Mills Ontario where she graduated high school from Don Mills Collegiate.
She completed her post-secondary education at The University of Guelph with a B.A. and a further B.Ed. at McMaster University. She met her husband, Ted at Guelph University and together they built a loving family.
First and foremost, Barb was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved being a grandmother and had a special bond with each of her grandchildren. She gave them unconditional love, had endless patience, and always spoiled them with delicious cookies!
A daughter, sister, wife, mother, cousin, grandmother, teacher, aunt, and friend, Barb was there for everyone. She often invited family and friends in for fresh baked goods or a home-cooked meal. She was also very crafty, whether it was quilting, sewing, or creating with her stitch group or grandchildren.
With a vibrant personality and an infectious laugh, Barb welcomed every person she met with kindness and offered comfort and guidance wrapped in a big bear hug. She loved animals and nature and spent time camping, skiing, hiking, horseback riding, exploring the beach, or visiting the top of a mountain. She instilled this love of nature into her children.
Barb felt surrounded by love and our thanks go out to the Oceanside Hospice Society, Dr.Kulla, all her medical team and, most of all, to her unwavering friends and family.
Although she will be greatly missed we know she will continue to bring joy and laughter into the next life as she always did in this one.
We will hold a celebration of life at a later date when covid restrictions lift.
