Audrey Ruth Florence Waddy (nee Beasley)

March 31, 1926 - August 1, 2019
Audrey Ruth Florence Waddy (nee Beasley) passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord Jesus, on August 1st, with her loving family at her side.
Audrey was predeceased by her parents William & Florence Beasley and five siblings in Britain; her grandson Stephan Wood (2002) and husbandRobert of 59 years (2004). Audrey is survived by her three children: Bobbi Wood, Allan (Gloria), Donald (Lisa), grandchildren: Cindy, Dianna, Les,Dawn, Tanya, Megan and Jenna; great grandchildren, Keith, David, Eliand Ezra and great-great grandchildren: Khloee, Lexi-Anne, Brynlee and Sawyer.
Audrey was born on March 31st, 1926 in Crawley, Sussex, England and raised on the family dairy farm in Tinsley Green where she met the love of her life Bob in 1941 when he was stationed as a Canadian Forces ArtilleryGunner in the Gun Tower on her father's farm. Audrey served with theDepartment of National Defence as a Nurse at RAF Station Gatwick from1942 to the end of the war and married Bob July 21st, 1945.
Audrey came to North Vancouver as a War Bride February 1946 until the family moved to Honeymoon Bay in 1949 where Audrey worked in theWFI Cookhouse until the family moved to Duncan in 1957. Audrey worked for over 30 years as Office Manager of the T. Eaton Building in downtownDuncan.
Mother's greatest pride as a war bride was when she became a CanadianCitizen. She was a proud Canadian evidenced by her exceptionalCommunity Service Achievements as a volunteer. She was extensively involved in the War Brides Association (70 years), Royal Canadian LegionExecutive (41 years), Terry Fox Foundation Vancouver Island Co-ordinator,(25 years), Cub Mistress Second Duncan Cub Pack, District Commissioner Cowichan Valley Cubs and Beavers, and over 60 years with the BP Guild and United Church Women's (UCW) Group and Church Choir.
Mom received numerous local and national awards as a volunteer,including the Golden Jubilee Medal. Upon retirement Mom & Dad spent many years in their RV travelling throughout North America.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Duncan United Church, at 2 pm on August 24th followed by a tea in the Heritage Hall.The family would like to thank Sunridge Place Seniors Residence for their care of our Mother over the past 21 months.
