Audrey was born October 28, 1945 in St. Boniface, Winnipeg, Manitoba to John and Evelyn Nelson. She was the youngest of 13 with 5 sisters and 7 brothers. Audrey moved to Vancouver where she grew up and began working at A&W as a carhop. There, she met the love of her life Wayne Erhardt. They were married in 1966. They welcomed their first child Jacqueline in 1967 whilst posted with the Air Force in Northern Ontario.
Two and a half years later they welcomed their beautiful boy Bradley. Audrey fought fervently for Brad as his health took a turn for the worst. Audrey and Wayne did not give up seeking help and when Brad was 2 they discovered he had a brain tumour that would recur 8 times over his life. The family was posted to Comox where they would be close to Children's Hospital.
Audrey worked at Super-Valu and then for the LDB for 20 years. Audrey and Wayne travelled as much as possible enjoying trips with family and friends. Audrey was an avid bowler, she learned to crochet, she loved Bingo and going on beach drives. She was a talented cook whipping up traditional dishes for Sunday family and sharing treats with the neighbours. When she was 70 she even learned to swim.
Audrey was truly beautiful inside and out. She volunteered for decades and supported many charities. Their daughter Jacqueline married Cal who was an incredible son-in-law and their bond was undeniable. Audrey and Wayne became grandparents welcoming Tyler, Madison, Shayla and Hunter. TMSH were the absoute highlight of Audrey's life. After the devastating death of Wayne in 2009, and Brad in 2014, Audrey moved in with Jacqueline and Cal up north. Audrey continued to flourish making friends and enjoying life. Audrey's life was marred with serious health issues but she persevered and never gave up. In 2020 the family all moved to Victoria. Even as Alzheimer's slowly took hold, Audrey was able to truly enjoy her family as they spent precious time together.
