In loving memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Art`s passing on the evening of November 24th, with his family at his side. Art joins his wife Edna, the first love of his life, married 53 years, and his second love Anne Brookes. Predeceased by his parents William and Mary, and siblings Alfred, Raymond, Rose, Hazel and Amy.
He will be forever missed by daughters Holly (Kevin) and Lori (Tim), Grandchildren Ryan (Kim), Courtney (Chris), Melissa (Tony), Shaun (Tasha), and sister Shirley. He will also be missed by extended family on Vancouver Island, Saskatchewan, and many friends.
Art was born and raised in Sooke. He moved to the Alberni Valley for work and was eventually employed by M&B until his retirement from Somass Division in 1992. Art's love of the outdoors kept him busy with lots of fishing, yearly hunting trips for moose, and his vegetable garden. He enjoyed all sports. He played softball his whole life, including senior's slow pitch. He loved the Alberni Valley. His passion for volunteering kept him busy with the Royal Canadian Legion, Sunshine Club, Tyee Club and Citizens on Patrol. He was committed to bettering the community and advocated for seniors and their safety. He enjoyed many years of camping with the trailer club, floor curling, playing cards and joining the crib group every week. Most of all, he enjoyed socializing and playing the slot machines at the casino. You would always see him on the city bus, cruising around town on his power wheelchair, and stopping in at McDonalds for a coffee with friends. He was a very social person. He especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren and was looking forward to his first great grandchild.

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
