April 15, 1937 - July 15, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Arleen Rae Ingram, announces her passing on July 15, 2020, at the age of 83. Mom passed away in her Nanaimo home, with her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mom is survived by her loving and most devoted husband of 65 years, Norman, children, Raymond, Wendy Large (Wally), Warren, grandsons, Dustin (Robin), Tyler (Taylor), Rian (Kaylie), granddaughters, Erin, Megan (Adam), Courtney, Brooke, great-grandchildren, Riley, Avery, Brody, Bryce, Kaiden, extended family, Debbie, Tammy, and siblings, Shirley (Don), Joyce, Jack (Lorna), Fred (Sherry), and Gordon (Louise). Mom was predeceased by son, Bruce (2020), grandson, Sean (2008), daughter in-law, Marjorie-Ann (2014), and brother, Kenneth.
Mom was born in Moose Jaw, SK, second child to Fred and Louis Judson. As an infant, the family moved to Vancouver Island, first settling on 10th St., in Harewood, and then later to the farm in Cedar, on Michael's Lake. Mom attended school in Ladysmith and would later meet her husband, Norm, while working at the Oyster Bar, in Ladysmith. In the early years mom and dad would make homes in Cedar, Nanaimo, Ladysmith, the Kootenays, and the West Indies, before returning to Nanaimo in 1973.
Mom was the heart of our home and family. She was an extraordinary homemaker who cherished and took great pride in her family. Mom and Dad's 65 years of marriage was full of love, respect, and adoration for one another. Mom was a beautiful soul, always thinking of others, was quietly determined and independent, and took on new activities wholeheartedly.
She had an incredible talent for crafting and creating. She was meticulous in everything she did. Mom played tennis and badminton for many years and was so quietly competitive in her sports. She was a "young" 83, always relevant, open minded to new ideas and the ever changing world. She had friends of all ages and backgrounds that she enjoyed immensely. She had a sense of humour that was with her right to her final days.
Mom will be remembered as a loving wife, the best mom, a grandma that was full of fun, as a generous and caring sister and friend, and she will also be remembered for having the best table at Cedar Hall flea market, every Sunday.
Our family would have loved to have shared in a celebration of mom's life but due to the current restrictions at this time, a private family celebration was had.
