Arien Ham of Port Alberni passed away on February 5, 2023, at the age of 85. Arien was born in Haarlem, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1952, eventually settling in Port Alberni.
It was in Port Alberni, where Arien met and married Marion, and together they raised 3 beautiful children. He worked in the Pulp Mill in various roles for 40 years, where he created many long-term friendships. He enjoyed many hobbies over the years, including water skiing as a young man and floor curling in his later years.
Predeceased by his sister, Tina, Arien is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marion; children, Blair (Kelly), Darren, and Shauna (Roland); grandsons, Tyler, Richard, and Andrew; great-grandson, Timber; brother, Ken (Carol), brother-in-law, Robert (Brenda), sisters-in-law, Maxine and Colleen (Fred); as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend a warm thank you to the staff of Fir Park Village for their care and kindness.
Following Arien’s wishes, no formal service will be held but the family will get together to celebrate his life at a later date.
