June 25, 1926 - December 6, 2020
Anne Richter (nee Connor) passed away peacefully into the hands of her Lord and Saviour on December 6th, 2020 at Sunridge Place, Duncan at the age of 94.
Born and raised in James Bay, Victoria, BC, Anne was the oldest of 4 children. She also lived in Duncan, BC from 1952 to 1983 before retiring and moving back to James Bay.
Anne worked for 33 years for the Department of Indian Affairs in Duncan and Nanaimo as a Land Administration Officer. Her love and respect for the Indigenous communities on Vancouver Island led her to work for the Cowichan Tribes and consult for other First Nations on the island.
Anne was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Duncan and Hope Lutheran Church, Victoria. Teaching Sunday school and singing in the choirs were some of the great joys in her life.
She is predeceased by her husband Albert Richter, her parents James and May and her siblings James Connor Jr. and Mae Bland. Her son Larry Richter predeceased her in 1994 as well as Larry's wife Marilyn in 1978.
Survived by her beloved sister Margaret Morrison; son Ron (Sherry); grandchildren, Brent (Connie), Tracy (Alex), Suzanne, Stephen (Caleigh); great-grandchildren, Luke, Logan and Sadie (Brent); her newly arrived great-great- grandson Henry, and many other family and friends. Anne also cherished the lifelong friendship and support of the extended Richter and McKinney families for over 65 years.
There are no words to express our gratitude to the staff and volunteers of Sunridge Place for their care, love and kindness to Anne. The years of love and care provided nieces Trisha Bland, Nancy Lane and companion Gae Henry will never been forgotten. They were our angels.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the New Year once COVID restrictions allow.
