April 9, 1960 - August 11, 2021
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Anne in her 61st year after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Predeceased by her mother, Ora Thommasen and her father William Thommasen.
Survived by her long-time partner Ian; her son, Chris, (father Wayne); her daughter, Cora, (father Wayne); her brother Harvey (Carol); nieces, Keri and Amy; as well as extended family. There are five grandchildren Halle, Toby, Baylee, Samantha, and Jackson.
Born in Surrey and raised in Youbou on Vancouver Island. Anne was a Jack-of-all-Trades who over the years was employed as an accountant, painter, and a meat packer. She loved making and selling crafts. She was most proud of the fact that she was a devoted mother who loved her two children and her five grandchildren dearly.
In her late teens she suffered a series of health set-backs from which she never fully recovered. Despite her health struggles, Anne will be best known for her wit and sense of humor. She will also be remembered for her devotion to her handicapped mother and father who were both deaf mute.
Her father suffered a major stroke which led to him being admitted to a long-term care facility in Duncan and after this happened, rain or shine, Anne would walk across town to be with her father and spend hours sitting at his bedside attending to his needs. She did this for almost two years.
After her father died, she lived part time with her mother, providing support and company, until she too died in March of 2021.
The family has chosen to forgo a memorial service at this time, and ashes will be interred at a later date.
