n January 7th, we lost Andre, our devoted and loving husband, father, grandpa and friend, after a courageous battle through a horrible illness. His wife Frances was by his side throughout. Andre was always gracious and appreciative of the care and support that he received. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by many members of his loving family.

Andre was a musical lexicon, passionate bass player and devoted member of many local bands.

He was also a fierce admirer and defender of vulnerable creatures, particularly cats, birds and insects.

He was a 15 year employee of Central Builders, working as their tool repair guru. Previously, he was the co-founder of Bop City Records in Courtenay.

Andre is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife Frances Forgues, son Len Forgues (Laura), daughter Sarah Heighington (Shawn), grandkids Marcel, Morgan, Felix and Violet, sisters Louise Bron, Lucie Lavallee, Diane Bartle and Sue Burnett, many nieces and nephews, his best friend Gord Rennie, friends Don Austin, Blair Bentley, and too many others to name.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Dr. S. Phang, Dr. A. Yee, and the staff of the 5th floor, 8th floor and ICU at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC, for their compassionate care throughout Andre's illness. Our deepest gratitude also goes to Karen Ellis for the expert care of our animals.

There will be no service at the family's request. A wake will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MARS Wildlife Rescue, Kitty Cat Pals or if you prefer, you could rescue a spider, or any small critter, in Andre's name.
