January 3, 1938 - April 6, 2021
Allan Wright, born January 3rd, 1938, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2021. Allan is survived by his wife Marlene Wright, his two daughters Sydney Crawford and Jocelyn Fraser, his son Brian Wright, and his seven grandkids: Jackson, Maxwell, Gage, Wyatt, Sydney, Ever and Bowie.
Growing up in Winnipeg, Al made many lifelong friends, became a loyal Jets fan, was an avid pilot, and in 1961 met the love of his life, Marlene. Together they shared an adventure that stretched from the prairies to Toronto and then west to Campbell River, where they arrived in 1981.
Together they owned and operated Beaver Lumber and later Work World. Al volunteered in many TV auctions for Rotary, served on the Campbell River hospital board, and helped host countless swim meets over the years for both the Salmon Kings and Killer Whales.
He made hundreds of trips up Mt Washington, where he loved to ski with his family. He spent many glorious days on his boat, exploring the local inlets and islands.
As a businessman Al was honest and fair; as a friend he was loyal and always ready with an (often inappropriate!) joke; as a father and grandfather he was a selfless provider and proud champion; and as a husband to Marlene he was a true partner in every sense of the word.
We thank Al for all the love and laughter through the years. And a special thank you to the staff at Discovery Harbor Care Center for taking great care of him.
