In Loving Memory ~
Alice Hatheway passed away peacefully at Trillium Lodge, Parksville, May 2nd, at 91 years of age.
She was born Alice Mildred Porter, on November 6th, 1930, in a Ford Model T, at the corner of the Hastings and Boundary Streets in Vancouver BC.
She grew up in Anmore ("The Ranches") during the 1930's, and 40's. Later, after living in Vancouver for a few years, she met and married Norm Nelson. When he returned from the Korean War in 1952, the growing family moved back to Anmore, and lived in a house approximately 1 km from the house where she grew up.
About 20 years later, after her divorce, she married Len Hatheway in Prince Rupert. Both husbands have since deceased, as well as 2 sons Rick, Gary, and daughter Kathy. Alice is survived by 3 sons, Andy, Mike, Brant, and 2 daughters, Diane and Norma. As well, there are 9 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Alice really enjoyed travelling, socializing, and especially liked shopping for sale items, and always needed a Lottery Ticket when the jackpots were getting big. She loved spending time with friends and family. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for next month. Those interested in attending please contact Andy for details.
