Albert John 'Bert' Hepinstall

Albert John "Bert" Hepinstall, aged 87 years of Nanaimo, BC retreated from this life with the tide on August 12, 2022.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Evelyn of 56 years in 2016 and many cherished four-legged members of the family, he is survived by his loving daughters Vicki of Nanaimo, BC and Nancy (Steve) of Pleasant Lake, NS and grandson Gabe (Alex) of Edmonton, AB.
Bert was born in Brandon, MB where he met and married Evelyn. In 1963, they packed everything they could into a Corvette convertible and moved to Vancouver Island.
Bert joined MacMillan Bloedel and put his gift for troubleshooting and problem-solving to work in the electrical department.
In 2000, he retired from Harmac having made lifelong friends and golfing partners, some of whom formed the "coffee gang" that he enjoyed so much in recent years.
A fan of GM vehicles since before he had a licence, Bert drove a Tom Harris Chevrolet courtesy van part-time for several years after retiring from the mill and loved it. He was a thoughtful neighbour, an affectionate dog-sitter, a determined reader of instruction manuals and a devoted father and friend.
Bert enjoyed photography, golf, tennis, jazz and blues festivals, crossword and sudoku puzzles and spending time in Ucluelet. In recent years he delighted in walking the beaches at Departure Bay, Piper's Lagoon and Neck Point looking for beach glass, people and dog watching and scanning the water for sea doggies (seals).

An informal celebration of life will be held at the Kin Hut at 2730 Departure Bay Road on Saturday, February 25, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
Light refreshments will be provided. Please come and share some stories and laughter.
