We always marvelled that Dad seemed to have more than 9 lives, and he sure made the most of them! He passed away at age 88 after a life well lived. He is remembered with love by Gerrie, children Laura (Neil), Tom (Chris), Don (Kelly) and Lisa. Grandchildren Eryn, Jordan, Luke, Jess, Dylan, Eli, Tara, Abbey, Rowan, and Mason. Sister Iris (Glenn), sisters- in- law Denise and Mary. Predeceased by parents George and Ellen, and siblings Vera, George, Tom, Doris, Jack, Doug, and Jim. Dad was born in Edmonton and enjoyed the farm life until moving to Vancouver at age 11.
He started working in the steel industry then worked with his brothers as owners of Windsor Quality Meats where he ran the wholesale division. He later worked with his sons' business, Freeman Bros. Railings and Stairs. He and Gerrie raised their family in Coquitlam and Lynn Valley, then moved to Parksville in 1992. Dad loved the outdoors, fishing, exploring B.C. and beyond by camper and motor home. He took pride in his huge vegetable garden and barbecuing the perfect roast on a Sunday afternoon to share with family.
Hold your head up high and take a walk in the sun, DadWe would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Bradley Bell for his many years of exceptional care for our Dad. It was very much appreciated. For future Celebration of Life details and his life story that's being written contact: rememberingAb@gmail.com
