Aili Margareta Datema passed away peacefully July 17, 2020 at the Compassionate Care Hospice Suite, in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.
Born in Condor, Alberta on January 16, 1934, she was the youngest of eight children.
As a young woman, she worked in Rocky as a store clerk and a cooks' helper in a logging camp where she met the young man who would become her soulmate for more than 65 years.
Aili married George Datema on April 10, 1955. They stayed in the Rocky area and started with farming and raising a family, then moved to an acreage when George began working as an automotive mechanic. In 1974 they moved to the Comox Valley where they lived until 1999 when they retired and moved back to Condor, living on the homestead where Aili was born.
She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by husband George; children Ivar (Connie), Darcy (Tracy), Marleen (Klaes); eight grandchildren; ten and a half great-grandchildren, and many extended family members.
Aili was predeceased by parents Alma and Waino, brothers Walter and Ivar, sisters Annie, Agnes, Jenny, Olga and Hilja, and daughter Bikkie.
A graveside service was held on July 22, 2020 at the Hespero Cemetery, Hespero, Alberta.
