September 25, 1941 - May 13, 2021
Adriana Van Dijk grew up in Amsterdam, Netherlands with her brother Henk and her sisters Maria and Paula. They immigrated to Canada in 1958 to reside in the growing City of Edmonton, Canada.
On August 2, 1969 she married Glen Devlin and together they raised three children. She was at times a baker, a medical secretary, and an educational assistant. But her proudest role was as "domestic engineer" for her sons Corbin and Lauran, daughter Andrea and husband Glen.
She spoke freely, laughed often and loved fiercely.
She is survived by sisters Maria and Paula, sons Corbin and Lauran, daughter Andrea and four grandkids.
Corbin and his wife Michelle are proud parents of two amazing kids, son Reece and daughter Kennedy.
Andrea and her partner Pim are also proud parents of two wonderful and spirited daughters, Emke and Anouk.
Adriana - "Oma" to her grandkids - raised her family to be loyal and resilient. She exemplified a nurturing caregiver, with a love of plants and animals that knew no bounds. She will be missed for the warmth of her smile, her encouraging words, and the bravery and strength with which she carried herself always.
Adriana was predeceased by her husband Glen, her parents Adriana and Hendrikus Van Dijk, and her older brother Henk. She will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched.
Adriana will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in St. Albert, Canada. In lieu of flowers, please support the Canadian Diabetes Association.
