West Shore RCMP is investigating after a man reported being carjacked while in the parking lot near the McDonald’s on Millstream Road in Langford.
On Monday at 9 p.m., West Shore RCMP said they received a 911 call of a robbery and vehicle theft.
Police responded to the scene and found a 52-year-old man who told them he was carjacked while sitting idle in the parking lot.
Police said the robbery occurred when the suspect opened the man’s car door, grabbed him by the shoulders and threw him out of the vehicle and onto the ground. The suspect drove away, nearly running over the man, police said.
The victim sustained minor injuries to his wrist, elbow and hip and was transported to hospital.
The suspect is a Caucasian man, roughly 30 to 40 years old, who is around five foot seven inches tall and 160 pounds. Police said he was wearing a black jacket, white pants, beige boots and a black toque.
The stolen vehicle is a white 2009 Nissan Versa with a parking pass that reads “U85” in the rear window and has a B.C. licence plate.
“Our serious crime investigators are canvassing the area to gather evidence as to the identity of the suspect,” said Cpl. Chris Dovell of the West Shore RCMP. “We are asking the public to be on the lookout for the stolen vehicle and to contact 911 right away if observed.”
