Students staged The Justice or Just Us? Day of Action walkout on Ring Road at the University of Victoria this morning.

According to the Facebook event, “Indigenous peoples across Turtle Island are reeling from the recent acquittals of Gerald Stanley and Raymond Cormier. The settler “justice” system leaves “just us” behind - to bury our children in vain, to bear the burden of institutional discrimination, and to count our missing and murdered women and girls.”

UVic’s Indigenous Law Students’ Association formed a student walkout, protest march around Ring Road, and demonstration in front of the Faculty of Law leaving at 11:15 a.m. and expected to finish at noon at the building.

Ring Road was closed until noon, which means bus detours via Cedar Hill X Road, Gordon Head Road, McKenzie Avenue and Finnerty Road to and from the regular bus exchange.
