Victoria police are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect who reportedly assaulted a store employee at Mayfair Shopping Centre last Thursday.

The store’s staff told police a man entered the business at about 4:50 p.m. on Jan. 13 and grabbed two large Lego sets before moving towards the door. When a staff member approached the man to direct him to the cashier, he reportedly assaulted the employee and fled.

The employee sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the incident.

The suspect was last seen in the 700-block of Finlayson Street. He’s described as Caucasian, standing 5’7” with a medium build. He had a short, dark beard and moustache at the time of the incident. The man was wearing a dark green or grey winter hat with black fur ear flaps and an army-green winter jacket.

Police said he also had distinctive lines or marks on his face and witnesses described that he walked hunched over.

Anyone with information can contact VicPD at 250-995-7654, ext. 1, or report anonymously to Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
