Ulrich “Rick” Marotz

  • Dec. 13, 2017 8:00 a.m.

Artist, craftsman, sportsman, nature lover, jokester. Ulrich (Rick) is gone but has not left us.

Rick is with us in his passion of artistic photography (www.rickmarotzphotography.ca) and in buildings designed and built. Rick is with us as we play or watch sports, walk a beach, sing a German “lied” (song) or share a funny story.

Intelligent, gentle yet determined, Rick treasured his “Pommern” homeland and his adopted Canada (Burnaby, Pender Island and Qualicum Beach). He loved Ruth and his family and friends here and in Germany. He believed in beauty, art, nature, honesty and integrity.

“To love is an endless art” – Rick, we love you endlessly.

Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers who cared for him at the end.

To add a condolence, please visit www.yatesmemorial.ca/listings.

No flowers or service, by request. Donations may be made in Rick’s memory to the Oceanside Hospice Society for use at Trillium Hospice.
