The investigation into the double homicide in Duncan on Christmas Eve is “ongoing”, according to the RCMP.

Const. Carlie McCann, from the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP detachment, said this week that police have “no updates to provide at this time”.

On Dec. 24, 2019, just before 11 p.m., North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP officers were called to an assault near Trunk Road and Canada Avenue.

When officers arrived they found an injured woman and a man, Nellie Williams and Fran Shurie, with life-threatening injuries.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital but Shurie was soon pronounced dead. Williams died in hospital on Dec. 28.

Investigators believe the attack was targeted and are pursuing several leads, including two male persons of interest.
