The Comox Valley RCMP Drug Section has seized a large amount of what is believed to be cannabis bud, shatter, and heroin from a vehicle and residence in Cumberland as the result of an ongoing investigation which began over the summer.

Police had received a complaint of a male handing out business cards offering marihuana and shatter for sale to minors. Investigators identified the suspect and after a thorough investigation, arrested the man on Sept. 12, 2018 in Cumberland.

A Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant was executed at his residence which provided further evidence to support charges.

Alexander Piller has been charged with breaching his probation, trafficking a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. Piller has been released from custody after an initial appearance in court

“Most people are aware of the risks associated with heroin use, but it’s a real concern that we’ve located so much shatter,” said Cpl. Jill Swann, NCO i/c Comox Valley RCMP drug section. “Shatter is a marijuana product but it is exceptionally potent and its production has led to fires, burns and unpredictable explosions.”
