Santa comes to town, heralds start of Winterfest and Gingerbread Village in Nanaimo

Jolly Old St. Nick flies in to Nanaimo waterfront morning of Saturday, Nov. 26

Winterfest in Nanaimo has begun after Santa Claus flew in to town this morning.

In order to lessen the mileage on Santa’s sleigh, Harbour Air provided a seaplane which transported Old St. Nicholas to the city’s waterfront. From there he was joined by children and parents and proceeded to head up to Vancouver Island Conference Centre and the Gingerbread Village.

Children can have their picture taken with Santa, for no charge, and decorate gingerbread at the conference centre from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays until Dec. 18.
