PQB crime report: Oceanside RCMP deal with graffiti, counterfeit bills, vehicle thieves

Crooks also continue to target catalytic converters

Oceanside RCMP received 226 complaints the week of March 20 to March 26.

Some of the incidents included:

March 20

• A horse saddle valued at $800 was reported stolen in the 200 block of Hirst Avenue, Parksville.

• A prowler was reported in the 100 block of Jensen Avenue East, Parksville.

March 21

• A vehicle was reported stolen in the 800 block of Redonda Place, Qualicum Beach. The vehicle was recovered in Nanaimo the following day.

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 3800 block of Island Highway West, Qualicum Beach.

• A 2001 black Acura MDX, B.C. licence plate NB004P, was reported stolen in the 2600 block of Northwest Bay Road, Nanoose Bay. The vehicle was recovered in Parksville a few days later.

• Two catalytic converters were reported stolen and a third was damaged in the 500 block of Stanford Avenue, Parksville.

• A 1997 black Ford Motorhome, B.C. licence plate BN015F, was reported stolen in the 1800 block of Alberni Highway, Coombs.

• A vehicle was reported vandalized in the 100 block of Renz Road, Parksville.

• Two brown Rattan chairs and blue cushions were reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Bramble Street, Parksville, on March 21.

• A vehicle prowler was reported in the 600 block of Island Highway East, Parksville.

March 22

• A wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 200 block of Dogwood Street, Parksville. The wallet was recovered on March 30.

• A vehicle window was reported broken in the 400 block of Willow Road, Qualicum Beach.

• A counterfeit Canadian $100 bill, serial number BVD3075882, was reported received by a business in the 700 block of Memorial Avenue, Qualicum Beach.

• A building was reported tagged with graffiti in the 100 block of Hirst Avenue West, Parksville.

• Insurance papers were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 2200 block of Alberni Highway, Parksville. There was no reported damage.

March 23

• Two portable toilets were reported tagged with graffiti in Rathtrevor Beach Park, Parksville.

• The steering column of a vehicle was reported damaged in the 200 block of Hirst Avenue West, Parksville. There was no sign of forced entry.

March 24

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 900 block of Coombs Road, Coombs.

• A shed break-and-enter was reported in the 900 block of Fairdowne Road, Parksville. Nothing was reported missing.

• A vehicle was reported vandalized with a key in the 300 block of Hirst Avenue West, Parksville.

• A business break-and-enter was reported in the 3100 block of Dogleg Road, Whiskey Creek. Damage noted to compound fencing and some storage lockers had their locks cut with a number of items reported stolen.

March 25

• A purple gym bag with personal effects was found in the area of Island Highway and Yambury Road, Qualicum Beach. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

March 26

• A 25-year-old Bonsai tree including pot was reported stolen in the 400 block of Yambury Road, Qualicum Beach.

• A dirt bike and Evinrude motor were reported stolen in the 2200 block of Alberni Highway, Coombs.

• Prowlers were reported in the 800 block of Mulholland Drive, Parksville.
