Oceanside RCMP received 224 complaints the week of Nov. 20 to Nov. 26.
Some of the incidents included:
Nov. 20
• A local resident was reported defrauded of $250 responding to a Facebook marketplace ad for a utility trailer.
• A female trespasser was reported in an unoccupied building in the 100 block of McCarter Street, Parksville.
Nov. 21
• A rear tire and wheel were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 200 block of Dunbar Way, Parksville.
• A vehicle was reported stolen in the 300 block of Island Highway East, Parksville. The vehicle was recovered later that day damaged in the Whiskey Creek area.
• Rear B.C. licence plate WPL17T was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 600 block of Martindale Road, Parksville.
• A local resident was reported defrauded of $4,100 by an online ad with a job offer by “Sweet Delight Pictures”. The fraudster forwarded the victim a cheque that eventually bounced unfortunately after the victim had purchased a prepaid credit card that was forwarded to the scammer.
• A backup camera and change was reported stolen from a recreational vehicle parked in the area of Windward Way and Oceanside Drive, Qualicum Beach.
• Two strings of Christmas lights were reported stolen in the 600 block of Brice Avenue, Parksville.
• A Honda dirtbike was reported stolen from an open garage in the 900 block of Coombs Road, Coombs. The bike was recovered the same day a short distance away in the ditch.
Nov. 22
• A squatter was reported in an unoccupied building in the 200 block of Mills Street, Parksville.
• A number of stored travel trailers were reported broken into in the 1300 block of Oceanside Drive, Qualicum Beach.
• A catalytic converter and fuel were reported stolen from a vehicle in the area of Alberni Highway and Inland Island Highway, Parksville.
• Three prowlers were reported in the 600 block of Alberni Highway, Parksville.
• A travel trailer break-in was reported in the 200 block of Corfield Street, Parksville. Several food items were noted found inside.
• A vehicle was reported vandalized in the pullout on Memorial Avenue, Qualicum Beach. A vehicle window was smashed, spare tire missing, and interior rummaged through.
Nov. 23
• A female trespasser started a fire close to a business in the 100 block of Island Highway East, Parksville.
• A motorhome was reported stolen by five individuals in the 400 block of Island Highway East, Parksville. The unit was recovered in Nanaimo.
• A local resident was reported scammed $600 on their credit card by responding to an email supposedly from a courier company asking to pay a $3.45 delivery charge.
• A stored travel trailer was reported broken into in the 200 block of Corfield Street, Parksville. Appears the unit was being used by a squatter for a few days.

Nov. 24
• A stored travel trailer was reported broken into in the 200 block of Corfield Street, Parksville.
• A business washroom available to the public was reported vandalized by a male in the 100 block of Island Highway East, Parksville.
Nov. 25
• Property consisting of binoculars, compass and a lantern were found in the 200 block of Corfield Street, North, Parksville. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours, quoting file number 2022-11591, to claim.
• An Apple iPhone was found on Fern Street bench, Qualicum Beach. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours, quoting file number 2022-11595, to claim.
Nov. 26
• Squatters were reported using an unsecured building mechanical room in the 500 block of Stanford Avenue East, Parksville.
• A business break-and-enter was reported in the 100 block of Hirst Avenue East, Parksville. An interior glass door window was broken and business rummaged through.
