Oak Bay police did not find a cougar Tuesday morning, despite extensive patrols, after a 911 caller reported seeing one near Carnarvon Rotary Waterpark.

The caller said they spotted the cougar at the intersection of Henderson Road and Neil Street at around 6:30 a.m., according to Oak Bay Police Department Chief Ray Bernoties.

“We haven’t received any other calls of sightings and we’re encouraging the public to call 911 if they see it,” Bernoties told Black Press Media.

Officers advised area schools and daycares of the possible risk and alerted the BC Conservation Service.
