The man police say is responsible for pulling flowers out of downtown Parksville planter boxes last week has been arrested.
Oceanside RCMP received a report on June 21, that hundreds of flowers were pulled from plant beds during a late-night vandalism spree in Parksville, causing damage in excess of $2,000.
“It’s senseless,” said Deb Tardiff, the city’s manager of communications, said at the time. “Totally senseless.”

The vandalism occurred two nights in a row, starting some time late Wednesday night and into Thursday morning. The pulled plants were replanted by crews on Thursday, but on Friday morning, Tardiff said city crews discovered more plants were pulled up late Thursday night from near Home Hardware in downtown Parksville.
Police arrested 22-year-old Colin Fredrick Reed, of no fixed address, who had outstanding arrest warrants and was in possession of a controlled substance.
On June 28 in Nanaimo provincial court, Reed received a 30-day custodial sentence for the above noted offences.
