Pedestrian struck, injured at Parksville crosswalk

70-year-old Qualicum Beach driver ticketed following incident

Oceanside RCMP say a woman was injured after being struck at a crosswalk in downtown Parksville on Monday, Jan. 4.

At approximately 10 a.m., the Oceanside RCMP, Parksville Volunteer Fire Department and BC Emergency Health Services all attended the scene near Paradise Mini Golf and Fun Park, at Moilliet Street and Highway 19A.

Police said the 46-year-old Parksville woman was hit by a vehicle driven by a 70-year-old Qualicum Beach woman who was turning off Moilliet onto Highway 19A.

According to Cpl. Jesse Foreman of the Oceanside RCMP, the pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Nanaimo, and has since been released after suffering a hip injury. The driver was issued a violation ticket for driving without due care and attention.
