The Petro-Canada gas station and Uplands Convenience Store at the corner of Rutherford Road and Uplands Drive lost a box of candy to a shady character last week.

According to a police press release, video surveillance footage from last Friday, April 17, showed a “shadowy figure” reach through a take-out window with a stick to snag a box of candy valued at about $40.

Investigators advised the store owner to move valuable items away from windows to help prevent thefts in the future.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP’s non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
