It only took a few moments for someone to ride off with a mountain bike left unlocked in Nanaimo.

The mountain bike was taken from in front of a home in the 5300 block of Coastview Place in the north end on Saturday, Oct. 22, at around 1 p.m.

“The owner of the bike told police he had stopped in to see a family member for just a few minutes, and had left the bike unlocked in front of the house. When he went to leave, the bike was gone,” noted an e-mail from Nanaimo RCMP.

A neighbour told the owner that an unknown man wearing a grey hoodie with a white logo on the back was seen riding away with the bike.

The bike is blue and black Kona 150 Precept with serial No. H6E219520. The left pedal on the bike is cracked.

Anyone who knows anything about the theft or the bike’s whereabouts is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP detachment non-emergency line at 250-754-2345 and quote file No. 2022-37474.
