Dozens of car tires have been slashed in recent week in the Sherman Road area.

Resident Louise Nadeau said there has been an upswing in tire slashings over the last few days, with as many as 30 cars affected.

She said she has personally seen a car of one of her neighbours with all four tires slashed, and three other vehicles close by that had one tire slashed each.

“All the cars that we know of that have had their tires slashed had been parked on the street at the time,” Nadeau said.

“I can’t confirm exactly how many tires have been slashed in this neighbourhood in the last few weeks, but there have been a lot.”

Const. Pam Bolton, a spokeswoman with the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP detachment, confirmed there has been an increase in tire slashings in the neighbourhood recently, but couldn’t confirm the numbers.

“The matter is under investigation,” she said.
