A Port Hardy man was stabbed during what police confirm was a robbery last week.

Late evening last Friday, Oct. 19, the Port Hardy RCMP received a complaint from a 32-year-old male who reported a robbery.

Staff Sgt. Wes Olsen confirmed the victim sustained a puncture wound to the torso, above his left hip, consistent with a knife puncture while being robbed of liquor near 6855 Market St., Port Hardy..

The victim was able to identify the two men involved and provided names of both suspects. A witness on scene was able to corroborate the victim’s story and verified the suspects’ identities.

The victim was then transported immediately to Port Hardy Hospital, then transferred to Campbell River, where medical professionals will determine the severity of his injuries, which police described as non-life threatening.

The police are recommending charges against a pair of men following the incident. One was arrested for two counts of breaching a court order, a single charge of robbery and assault causing bodily harm. The suspect was released on a recognizance, Olsen said, and was given conditions to follow.

A second suspect fled the scene and has yet to be located. A second man, 33, is facing a robbery charge and also assault causing bodily harm. He is well known to the police and has an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
