A Lincoln MKS that was stolen from Mid Island Truck Auto and RV in Parksville on Jan. 9 has been recovered.
The vehicle was spotted in the Duncan area on Jan. 12 by North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP officers. Officers first spotted the vehicle without licence plates and were unable to stop the driver. A while later officers saw the vehicle again, this time with stolen licence plates attached, and were successful in stopping the driver.
The driver was 30-year-old from Port Alberni.
“The driver was taken into custody and recommended charges included possession of stolen property under $5,000 for the plates, possession of stolen property over $5,000 for the vehicle, obstructing the arresting officer by resisting arrest and flight from a peace officer for not stopping during the initial attempt,” said Oceanside RCMP Sgt. Stephen Rose.
Rose said the vehicle obtained minor damage.
Terry Kenton, Mid Island Auto staff member, said they are picking up the Lincoln tomorrow.
“We’re just glad to have it back,” Kenton said.
