Law Society of B.C. Tribunal issues 1-month suspension for Parksville lawyer

Hearing panel ruling effective as of Jan. 1, 2022

The Law Society Tribunal has ordered the suspension of Parksville lawyer John Aaron Hossack.

A release issued by the Law Society of B.C. on Thursday, Dec. 30, stated a hearing panel of the tribunal had ordered Hossack be suspended for one month, starting Jan. 1, 2022, for “failing to provide the quality of service expected of a competent lawyer while acting as executor and trustee for his client’s estate.”

The release continued that Hossack had admitted he “failed to administer the estate and respond to communications from a beneficiary in a timely manner.”

In imposing the suspension, the panel considered the “serious delays caused by his professional conduct record which consisted of a practice review arising from the beneficiary’s previous complaint, as well as his willingness to admit his misconduct.”

The panel’s decision can be viewed online on the society’s website.
