Langford coffee-throwing suspect arrested

Man refused to wear mask Jan. 12, returned Jan. 13 to throw coffee at employee

West Shore RCMP and Saanich police officers found the man suspected of throwing coffee on a Langford Tim Hortons employee and arrested him Monday.

Officers were told the man was barred from the Tim Hortons at 845 Goldstream Ave. on Jan. 12 after refusing to wear a mask and being belligerent with staff, but returned the next day.

On Jan. 13 the individual entered the coffee shop with a cup of coffee previously purchased in the drive-thru. When the employee advised the suspect he was denied service based on his previous incident, staff say the person threw a cup of coffee at the employee then left.

The staff member did not report any injuries.

On Jan. 24, West Shore RCMP and Saanich police officers found the suspect and arrested him. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 17.
