The Cape Mudge Lighthouse is currently wrapped in tarps while it is being refurbished as well as painted.

The project is being managed by the Real Property Safety and Security Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, said Leri Davies, spokesperson for Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of the month and a temporary light has been established in the meantime.

The Cape Mudge Lighthouse is designated as a heritage lighthouse, according to the Directory of Federal Heritage Designations. As such, the location as well as the character defining elements will not be altered, such as the red and white colour scheme as well as the build forms, profiles and proportions.
