No injuries after truck takes down power lines in Colwood

The incident closed Heatherly Road near Sooke Road

No one was injured after a power line was brought down by a truck in Colwood Thursday afternoon.

In a tweet, the West Shore RCMP said officers were called to the intersection of Sooke and Heatherly roads for a report of lines down.

Police said the crane boom of a truck caught on the powerlines, bringing them and the pole down on top of the truck, blocking Heatherly Road.

A driver and a passenger were in the truck at the time of the incident, but neither was injured according to police. They remained in the vehicle until BC Hydro crews were able to arrive on scene to cut power to the downed lines.

Earlier in the day, the City of Colwood urged drivers and others to use caution in the 2200-block of Sooke Road as crews worked at the scene. Sooke Road was briefly reduced to single-lane traffic.
