The Qualicum Beach Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76 has scheduled a pared-down poppy campaign and Remembrance Day celebration.
Organizers have indicated things will look extremely different this year as they can only have activities with gatherings to a maximum of 50 persons. They also have to observe COVID-19 protocols such as wearing masks and gloves during celebrations and also during canvassing.

It has scheduled the start of its poppy campaign on Oct. 30. A flag-raising ceremony will be held at the Legion cenotaph, with Qualicum Beach Mayor Brian Wiese being presented the first poppy.
Street canvassing will be ongoing through Nov. 10. Later that night, candlelight ceremonies will be held at the cenotaph with an additional ceremony for the liberation of the Netherlands. People wishing to take part can order candles at the legion.
On Nov. 11, the Remembrance Day ceremony will be held but there will be no parade.
