Island Health has declared the COVID-19 outbreak at Glacier View Lodge to be over.

The outbreak was announced on the Island Health website on Feb. 28, citing one staff member as having tested positive for the virus.

“No other cases in residents or staff were identified through extensive follow-up testing,” said an update posted to the website on March 9. “The team at Glacier View is to be commended for their exceptional work ensuring no residents were affected by this outbreak and continuing to provide high-quality care under challenging circumstances. Upon declaring the outbreak, Island Health took immediate action to support the home in its response to protect the health of all residents and staff.”

Social visits will resume on the outbreak unit on March 11, with social visits resuming on all other units on March 10.

Admissions, transfers, and congregate dining will all resume, effective immediately, with all COVID-19 safety protocols in place.
