No new COVID-19 cases have been reported at The Gardens at Qualicum Beach.

On Dec. 19, management had been advised that a staff member tested positive for COVID-19. Tammy King, general manager at The Gardens, told the PQB News in an email that with guidance from Island Health and the continued hard work of their staff, the COVID-19 case has been, to date, limited to just one isolated staff member.

The staff member has been in self-isolation at home since Dec. 19 in order to ensure the well-being of all residents and staff members.

King said The Gardens team responded swiftly and “out of an abundance of caution” placed restrictions on the entire building. She said that within just a few days of the exposure, they were able to lift many of the precautions that were put in place, and anticipate a full release and declaration that the exposure is over from Island Health within the next few days.

“We thank Island Health, the residents of The Gardens, and our team, for their support throughout this outbreak,” said King.
