Three more cases of COVID-19 exposures have been reported in the Ladysmith-Chemainus area.

The Brass Bell Pub in Crofton received notification of an exposure there from last Wednesday, Feb. 17.

Management was in contact with health authorities and told it was a low risk case. It was decided to take Sunday to do a thorough cleaning of the establishment and the doors were opening again as of Monday, Feb. 22 at 11 a.m.

There’s also notification from Island Health of a COVID-19 case at Chemainus Secondary School, with potential exposure dates in the school community identified as Feb. 8, 16, 17 and 18.

Island Health is completing contact tracing, as per its usual procedures, to identify any staff and students who need to self-isolate or self-monitor for symptoms. Staff and students may continue to attend school while monitoring for symptoms.

A letter was sent out to families, but Island Health stressed it does not mean those receiving the letter have necessarily been exposed to COVID-19.

This is the third exposure at Chemainus Secondary School since the first week of January when classes resumed after the Christmas break.

Meanwhile, Ladysmith Secondary School has experienced an additional COVID-19 exposure.

School District 68 said in a social media post that potential exposure dates are Feb. 8-10 and Feb. 16-18. This exposure comes after the district announced a previous exposure that took place on Feb. 5.

Island Health has completed contact tracing.
