COVID-19: Case confirmed at Ballenas Secondary School in Parksville

Another COVID-19 case has been confirmed in School District 69 (Qualicum).

The district issued a press release saying the case involved an individual at Ballenas Secondary School, with dates of exposure being Friday, Jan. 22 and the morning of Monday, Jan. 25.

This follows a confirmed case on Sunday, Jan. 24, of an individual at PASS/Woodwinds (140 Renz Rd. in Parksville), with a last date of attendance of Jan. 22.

Island Health staff have initiated contact tracing to identify individuals needing to self-isolate or self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms. All contact tracing at Ballenas is expected to be concluded by the end of day Jan. 27 and all members of the school community will have received direct communication.

Anyone who has not received a phone call from public health officials is advised to continue to attend school and monitor for COVID-19 symptoms as per BCCDC guidelines noted in the daily health check form.
