Mayor Bob Wells and the rest of Courtenay council kicked off the new term Monday by cycling to their first official meeting.

Accompanied by Comox Valley RCMP Insp. Mike Kurvers, members of council started at the Broken Spoke coffee house/bicycle shop, pedalled along both sides of the new-look Fifth Street to Menzies Avenue, and wound their way to City Hall.

“We thought it would be great to start our term off by showing that cycling can be done,” Wells said.
