The Comox Valley Airport has taken steps in response to COVID-19 to ensure the health and safety of passengers travelling in and out of the airport.
In a release, CVAC acknowledges the general risk to Canadians is deemed low as noted by the Government of Canada, however, they add the potential of travellers connecting from higher risk areas or from cruise ships to be transmitters of the virus.
They are following their own Pandemic Response Plan, and have implemented a number of measures with guidance from the Public Health Agency of Canada.

The measures include:
- Increasing signage for education and information purposes regarding prevention, and what to do if showing symptoms
- Increasing cleaning cycles of touchpoints & eating areas
- Ceasing CVAC volunteer support until further notice
- Rotating bathroom closures to facilitate the enhanced cleaning cycle
- Ensuring that hand sanitizer units are readily available and that all hand soap dispensers are promptly refilled
- Continuing to emphasize the need for thorough hand washing, social distancing, and proper sneeze/cough etiquette
- Advising any staff members who experience fever with flu-like symptoms to stay at home.
They note that for information regarding air travel, including booking, cancellation and current policies in effect, to contact individual airlines.
