Power has been restored on the Saanich Peninsula after an outage impacted close to 2,000 customers Wednesday.

As of 11:19 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 29), 1,769 BC Hydro customers were without power in the area east of Saanich Road, south of Swartz Bay-Fulford Harbour Ferry Road, and north of Forest Park Drive.

The Swartz Bay ferry terminal was also affected. The noon sailing on the Coastal Celebration was delayed as BC Ferries was unable to work its loading ramps, putting sailings 60 minutes behind schedule.

BC Hydro says the outage was caused by a fallen tree. Power had been restored by 12:40 p.m.
